Who run the world? Girls! Beyoncé taught us that.
And now Queen Bey, along with stars like Jennifer Garner and Jane Lynch, wants to help encourage young women to speak their minds and take leadership without the fear of being labeled "bossy." In fact, these girl power enthusiasts want to Ban Bossy all together!
"I think the word 'bossy' is just a squasher," says Lynch. Garner, who has two daughters and one son with hubby Ben Affleck, points out, "Being labeled something matters."
Beyoncé, Lynch, and Garner--with some help from Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Furstenberg, Nascar champion Jimmie Johnson, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA Anna Maria Chavez, and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg—explain how girls are "less interested in leadership" by the time they reach middle school, "and that's because they worry about being called 'bossy.'"
The stars in the Lifetime PSA want young women to "be ambitious," to "encourage girls to lead," to "listen to your own voice," to "dare to be you," and to "change the world."
"Be brave. Be you," says Bey. She also sums up the #banbossy campaign quite well, saying, "I'm not bossy. I'm the boss."
