Even though we knew both Julia Roberts and Margot Robbie had recently undergone hair color changes, seeing the final effect at the 2014 Oscars was more surprising than we would have thought.

Perhaps it's because The Wolf of Wall Street star chose to debut her brunette tresses with an equally dark, vampy plum lip color—making her almost unrecognizable! Remember the golden girl from the 2014 Golden Globes? Yeah, well, she's gone totally Goth now. The star even donned a matching all black Saint Laurent gown. The only bright spot was her Forevermark Exceptional Diamonds necklace and earrings.

Meanwhile on the other end of the hair color spectrum, Roberts (who also wore a black gown, hers by Givenchy Couture) hit the event flaunting newly blond strands. Her golden locks were tied up in a parted updo, which was slightly more undone than her Golden Globes hairstyle (left). But thanks to a few face-framing pieces purposely hanging loose, we can see the lighter tint still has a touch of reddish undertones—Sort of a middle grown between the Oscar winner's natural fiery hue and a light strawberry blond. However you describe it, it certainly fits the star perfectly.
