The first Academy Award of the night goes to Jared Leto for Best Supporting Actor!

The Dallas Buyers Club actor gave an emotional acceptance speech for his heart-wrenching performance as Rayon in the Oscar-nominated drama.

"To my fellow nominees, I'm so proud to share this journey with you and I'm in awe and have so much respect for you all," he said while on stage at the Dolby Theatre.

He then began telling the story of his mother, and how she overcame her struggles after becoming a single parent in Louisiana.

"There was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child and she was a high school dropout, and was a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. She encouraged her kids to be creative and work hard and to do something special.

"That girl is my mother and she's here tonight and I just want to say I love you mom and thank you for teaching me to dream."

He then added, "To all the dreamers out there around the world watching tonight in places like Ukraine and Venezuela, we are here and as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we're thinking of you tonight."

Leto gave a special shout-out to his co-star Matthew McConaughey, by simply saying, "Matthew, I love you."

"This is for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world for you. Thank you so much and goodnight."
