If you've been wondering what Winona Ryder has been up to, be sure to peruse the latest issue of Red magazine.

The 42-year-old cover girl looks radiant and refreshed modeling a myriad of flirty feminine frocks, and opens up about her younger years in the spotlight.

"My early thirties were rough. I went through stuff that I would have gone through, and probably should have gone through much younger, but I had spent my twenties working. Even when I was the right age for older roles, people thought of me as being younger. It was tough because I'd had so much success in my early twenties."

Older, wiser and more confident than ever, Ryder still holds on true to some of her convictions, especially when it comes to fashion and shopping on a budget.

"Most of my wardrobe is vintage and I've worn dresses to the Oscars that I got for $10. At Sean Penn's last Haiti gala I wore this vintage dress that I'd worn to a film premiere in 2005. I know that's kind of a no-no in the fashion world, but why wear something just once if you love it?"

Touché!

Winona, we're with you on that one.

Furthermore, the spunky actress, who currently rents a small cottage behind Helen Mirren's mansion and attests that Mirren is a "wonderful, warm and funny" landlady, has also broadened her interests by studying acupressure and Native American culture, among other passions.

Impressive!

As for what lies ahead, Ryder looks towards the future with big goals in mind.

"[I'm] waiting for the thing that gives me that feeling. I've been trying to write [David Simon of The Wire] a letter to tell him I want to work with him. But how do you write a letter to a writer? He's the person that I hope to work with one day."

Winona, if anyone can do it, we believe it's you!
