Netflix Mocks Amazon's Drone Delivery System With Hilarious (and Deadly) Commercial Parody

Netflix Drone Netflix

Netflix is good for a lot of things, included but not limited to: binging on old TV shows, getting addicted to original series, watching an embarrassing amount of Say Yes to the Dress and realizing that you know all the words to Top Gun.

You know what else it's good for? Throwing shade at competitors.

Case in point: Netflix released a "commercial" for their new drone service, which will deliver those iconic red envelopes right to your location "mere seconds" after you added it to your queue. Think two to three days is too long to wait for a copy of White House Down? You're not alone.

Clearly they are poking fun at Amazon, who a couple months ago released a video that revealed they are working on a Amazon Prime air service that will deliver items to customers minutes after they've ordered them.

Here is a look at the future of Amazon:

Pretty cool, right? We think this is how Skynet started, but whatever.

Netflix's drone project, titled "Drone 2 Home," is a bit different, in that it might kill you. The commercial parody was uploaded by Netflix engineering director Paul Johnson and it features Hank Breeggemann, general manager of Netflix's DVD division, discussing the virtues of the company's "groundbreaking, same-day home delivery subscription service."

"Unlike other companies trying to rush unproven technology to market, we have literally spent days working out most of the bugs," insists the commercial, right before a Netflix drone chases a woman and then crashes into a building and explodes in a fiery ball of twisted metal and glass.

(But the real crime in that scene is the woman's denim jeans-denim vest combo, right?!)

So don't be surprised in the future if you add Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry Presents Tyler Perry as Tyler Perry (that's a movie he has in development, right?) and it shows up three seconds later while you're in the bathroom.

Because everyone knows the best place to mess with your Netflix queue is when you're on the can.
