Ansel Elgort will be gracing the big screen in two highly anticipated releases, Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars. But that doesn't mean that the 19-year-old up-and-coming actor is getting recognized just yet.

Elgort, who stars opposite Shailene Woodley in both of the young-adult film adaptations, caught up with Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday.

"Have people started chasing you around yet?" the late-night host asked.

"I mean sometimes, if I'm on set," Elgort revealed. "Some people will come and they will be nice and they'll have their book and they'll care and they'll be nice. But I've never been recognized in New York City."

Well, except for that one time when he introduced himself to a not-so-enthusiastic fellow subway rider in the Big Apple.

"I look over to my left and there's a guy and he has his iPhone out, with two earbuds in, and he's watching Carrie," Elgort shared. "Which is my first movie."

He continued excitedly: "I see Chloë [Grace Moretz].  And then I realize it's the scene where, I'm in the scene. I'm taking her to prom. It switches my face is on the screen and I'm like, 'This is my chance.'"

Elgort thought that the man would be just as thrilled by the awesome coincidence as he was.

"I was so excited and I went over and I tapped him on the shoulder. And I go like this," he gestured as he pointed at himself.

Well, the man didn't recognize Elgort and wasn't enthused about the situation, either.

"He looks at me like I'm crazy," Elgort said with a laugh. "And then I'm like, 'No, no, no, that's me.' And he goes, 'What?' and takes out his earbud. And I'm like, 'That's me right there' and he looks at me."

After Elgort graciously offered to take a photo with the man, the fellow subway rider put his earbuds back in and continued to watch the horror flick.

"You're gonna long for these days," Kimmel joked.
