Piers Morgan is not happy.
But it has nothing to do with the fact that CNN is canceling his primetime show, Piers Morgan Live. Rather, the veteran British journalist is angry over a report that claims he didn't treat his staff very well.
"Hi @NYDailyNews - found any CNN make-up artists I was ever rude to yet? Or you going to admit you just invented that garbage?" Morgan tweeted regarding a story the paper pubbed on Tuesday morning.
The New York Daily News quotes a source as saying that Morgan "was always such an a------ to people working for him," adding, "The makeup girls suffered the worst — he was rude and belligerent...The general feeling is Morgan didn't show any respect to anyone working under him — the people who were trying to make him look good."
Morgan continued to insist such statements were just plain false by writing, "Sorry, don't mind all the crap swirling around my CNN show ending, but abusing make-up artists? NEVER. Just pisses me off to read that."
He added, "So @NYDailyNews response is to tweet a link to their lie? Halfwits. And their Brit editor Colin Myler worked with me at the Mirror, too!"
Last Sunday, a rep for CNN confirmed to E! News that Piers Morgan Live would be coming to an end, but that the exact date of the final program has yet to be determined.
According to the New York Times, Morgan said he and CNN president Jeff Zucker had discussed the show's failure to connect to the network's audience and had decided to cancel it, more than likely in March.
Morgan told the Times, "It's been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings."
The former America's Got Talent judge started hosting his show in January 2011.
