Roll out the red carpet—it's time to get your Oscar viewing party in order.

And who better to give you tips on throwing a bash on Sunday night than the experts behind the Academy Awards' official VIP after party, the Governors Ball?

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is once again preparing the menu for an expected 1,500 guests immediately following the big show. More than 50 one-bite hors d'oeuvres and small-plate are served throughout the evening.

"People can do lot of things at home like we do here," Puck told me at the Governors Ball preview. "It's very easy to do. For example, the chicken potpie, you can do that ahead of time, put them in the refrigerator and bake it for a half-hour. You can also make the salad or chopped vegetables, Kale salad or roasted beet salad ahead of time.

"One of our most popular dishes is our macaroni and cheese," he continued. "That's so easy too because you can make it in advance. You want to have everything ready, make a buffet table and let people eat when they want."

And drink when they want. Here's what you'll need if you want to stock your bar like the ones at the ball: Champagne Thienot, Sterling Vineyards wines, Johnnie Walker scotch whisky, Ciroc vodka and Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur.

Let's not forget dessert. It's all about chocolate. While you may not be able to provide your guests with Puck's signature mini gold-covered chocolate Oscars, you can bake some homemade chocolate chip cookies (yup, they're served at the ball!) or whip up some chocolate barks with assorted seeds, nuts and dried fruit.

As for décor, keep it green—literally.

Floral arrangements by Mark Held of Mark's Gardens will feature walls covered by and table top pieces made from ferns, kale, orchids, hydrangea and exotic vines. "Really think about mixing plants and flowers," Held said. "Think a little more organic than usual."

Music for the night is easy—just load up your iPhone with some John Legend. The Grammy-winner will be performing at the ball.

Here's hoping the winner for best home viewing party goes to…you!
