Bode Miller's unforgettable Winter Olympics is coming to a close.

The 36-year-old tweaked his surgically repaired left knee during Wednesday's giant slalom and will not race in the final skiing event in Sochi. He missed all of last season following the surgery.

"@MillerBode says he will not race this week's #slalom but will race the rest of the World Cup season. #Olympics," the U.S. ski team tweeted.

Miller's teammate, Ted Ligety won the gold, Steve Missillier and Alexis Pinturault from France took silver and bronze, respectively. Miller finished in 20th place.

"I'm bummed I'm out for the slalom, I wanted a miracle. Thank you all for the amazing support, it's been incredible," Miller shared on Twitter. He also congratulated Ligety on his "clutch performance" and "well deserved gold medal."

Miller became the oldest skier to win a Winter Olympics medal when he took the bronze in the super-G on Sunday. This was also his sixth medal, which is the second-highest total for a male skier and ties speedskater Bonnie Blair as the second most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian in any sport. Short track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno holds the record with eight medals.

His emotional post-race interview with NBC reporter Christin Cooper drew a lot of attention, after the four-time Olympian completely broke down after being questioned about his late-brother Chelon.

"I appreciate everyone sticking up for me," Miller tweeted Sunday. "Please be gentle w christin cooper, it was crazy emotional and not all her fault. #heatofthemoment"

"My emotions were very raw, she asked the questions that every interviewer would have, pushing is part of it, she wasnt trying to cause pain," he added.
