FameFlynetJulianne Hough has a new man!
Over the weekend, the 25-year-old actress sparked romance rumors when she was spotted holding hands with 30-year-old sports star Brooks Laich. The lovebirds were all smiles while strolling around L.A. together.
Since the PDA sighting, a source confirmed to E! News that the duo are indeed dating. "He's a very nice guy," a source close to Hough tells us. "She really likes him."
So who exactly is Laich and what's he all about? Here are five things to know about Hough's new beau.
1. He's a Hockey Star: Laich has been playing professional hockey for more than a decade. He originally played for the Ottawa Senators after the 2001 NHL draft. In 2003, he started playing with the Washington Capitals and is currently the team's alternative captain.
2. He's Canadian: Laich hails from the land up north and was born in Wawota in southeastern Saskatchewan. He's played for Canada internationally in the 2003 World Junior Championships and the 2010 World Hockey Championships.
3. He's a Do-Gooder: Laich made headlines in April 2010 when he came to the rescue of a woman and her daughter who were stranded after getting a flat tire on their car. After losing in the 2010 NHL playoffs, Laich stopped to help the two ladies change their tire (talk about a good Samaritan!). "It's not a big deal," he told the media afterwards. "It was just a tire. The lady was stranded on the side of the road, I saw that it was just a lady and her daughter, and I figured my tire expertise outweighed hers."
4. He's a Family Man: In addition to his do-gooder ways, Laich regularly posts photos of his mom, dad and other family members through social media. He recently shared an adorable post-game photo of him and his dad with the caption, "So cool to be able to share tonite's victory in Montreal with my dad, 30 years of sharing this great game! #grateful." And around Christmas, he visited the Disney store to buy a bunch of gifts for his sister's kids. "This is what happens when you have a niece and 2 nephews! @JodiKuntz #Christmas," he wrote at the time.
5. He's Musical: In his downtime, Laich likes playing the guitar and drums.
