Donato Sardella/WireImageMary Katrantzou's affinity for textile design led her to create a collection of digital printed, body flattering pieces that celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Kerry Washington and more have come to love.
Her love for textiles developed at an early age, considering the Athens-born fashion designer's father worked in textile design and her mother was an interior designer.
After transferring to Central Saint Martins to finish her BA in textile design in 2005, Katrantzou found that she had a knack for creating womenswear that focused on print.
She went on to receive her MA in Fashion from Central Saint Martins and rocked her graduating show in 2008, which was mostly comprised of oversized jewelry on jersey-shaped dresses.
From there, Katrantzou debuted her first ready-to-wear collection at London Fashion Week in spring/summer 2009.
When discussing her style techniques, the fashionista dished on why she swears by digital prints, saying, "Digital print allows me to experiment with print in a way that fine art and other methods could not."
"It opens up a huge spectrum for possibility; I can create possibility out of impossibility, surrealism out of realism and both vice versa."
In 2010, Katrantzou received the prestigious Swiss Textiles Award, and went on to rack up even more accolades including the 2011 British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent in Womenswear, the 2012 Young Designer of the year at the Elle Style Awards and the 2013 British Fashion Awards Designer of the Year.
Adding to her repertoire, Katrantzou produced two collections for Topshop and also teamed up with Atelier Swarovski on a jewelry collection, among other collaborations.
The up-and-coming stylist is set to show her latest collection at London Fashion Week Sunday.
