Orange Is the New Black's Crazy Eyes: I Was a Figure Skater for 10 Years!

Uzo Aduba, Orange is the New Black Netfllix

You may know Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes from Orange Is The New Black, but if things took a different turn, she could have ended up in Sochi competing for some Olympic gold.

Turns out, Aduba did some serious figure skating when she was younger.

"I figure skated for like 10 years when I was a kid," Aduba told me at the Savannah College Art and Design's aTVfest.

She got to show off her talents in episode 13 of OITNB's first seaon. "I used that special skill when I auditioned before the pageant," Aduba said, referring to the prison Christmas show. "It was really me figure skating. People have asked...'Is that a stunt double doing those axels and jumps?' I was like, 'No, that was me.'"

Oh, how we'd love to see some pics of Aduba in a brightly-colored sequined ice skating dress.

"They have been burned or locked away," she said, laughing. "If they haven't, I will find the people who have them."

Aduba's costars also weighed in on their Olympic dreams. OK, not dreams, but we did ask them to pick the winter sport they'd want to compete in. "The luge," said Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey. "You have like four different people for bobsledding, but the luge is just you. I want it be just me. I don't want anybody else. I'm gonna win the race."

Funny enough, Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee, did name bobsledding as her top choice. "I'll have my crew," she said. "It will be me, Uzo and Samira. Orange Is the New Olympics!"

We thought Matt McGorry, who plays the one-legged corrections officer Bennett, would be an expert in at least one winter sport because of his athletic background as a competitive bodybuilder and fitness trainer.

"Powerlifting doesn't require a lot of athleticism," McGorry said. "And neither does standing there and posing."
