George Takei Doesn't Get the "Hoo-Ha" Surrounding "Boring" Ryan Gosling

"I don't think he's as gripping and compelling as people like Matt Damon or George Clooney," says Star Trek actor

While most of us consider Ryan Gosling to be a beloved, honorary boyfriend (thanks, Eva Mendes, for sharing!), Star Trek's George Takei is not all that impressed.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, the 76-year-old actor was asked to name something "overrated," and while he thinks "selfies are fine," he thinks we tend to go a little too crazy over "actors." Specifically? The Gos.

"I don't know what all this hoo-ha about Ryan Gosling is about," Takei said. "He's more often boring than not."

Say what now? "I mean, he's an all right actor," he clarified, "but I don't think he's as gripping and compelling as people like Matt Damon or George Clooney."

Well, Damon and Clooney are great, sure, but you have to wonder if Takei is really familiar with Gosling's body of work. From The Notebook (who doesn't want Noah Calhoun, forever every day?) to The Place Beyond the Pines (which showcases Gosling's talented at playing tough, too) to Blue Valentine, Gangster Squad and everything in between, this man is a Canadian treasure.

Oh, and on that note, ladies and gentlemen, it's not too late to get your very own life-sized Ryan Gosling body pillow just in time for Valentine's Day!
