The truth can be a death sentence.
Reign's King Henry (Alan Van Sprang) has had it with his scheming wife Catherine (Megan Follows), one of the most delicious characters currently on TV, and is taking drastic measures to show her who really wears the crown in this castle.
We've got an exclusive sneak peek at tonight's episode of the CW breakout hit that will literally make you gasp as Catherine attempts to turn Henry against his son Bash (Torrance Coombs), only to end up with blood on her face. Literally.
So just how much danger has Queen Catherine gotten herself into?
After rumors of Bash's connection to the pagans are planted, Catherine is accused of spreading the damaging information. And when Catherine provides two witnesses, the guards assigned to watch her, to prove her innocence, well, Henry gets rid of the evidence. How? By taking his sword to one of Catherine's guard's necks in order to protect Bash and eliminate the "threat." Oh snap!
Showrunner Laurie McCarthy recently chatted with us about Catherine's precarious standing at French Court after she's accused of adultery and treason by the King.
"I love painting her in a corner. It's so fun. I think you can expect someone whose worst fears become realized, and that she does not go down without a fight," McCarthy said. "And you know, the more threatened she is, the more manipulative she becomes, and the more determined to not just save her sons but at some point to really and truly save herself."
She continued, "There's an episode coming up that we all sort of talked about as the inquisition. That's specifically for heresy, but it's sort of a trial. Imagine Catherine on trial, but she gets to walk around the castle and technically drum up her defense, and if you can imagine the sort of things she'll do to drum up her defense, it's not pretty."
Reign airs tonight at 9 p.m. on the CW.
