Lenny Abbot, PacificCoastNews.comE! News has learned details about the night before Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment.
The actor, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, grabbed dinner at West Village eatery Automatic Slims with two other men around 7 p.m.
According to a manager at the restaurant, the critically acclaimed actor had a cheeseburger and a cranberry soda while one of his friends enjoyed dinner with a beer.
It turns out that Hoffman was a regular at Automatic Slims and "hardly ever drank."
And just a few short weeks ago, a source spotted the Oscar winner at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont during Golden Globes weekend.
"He looked great and healthy," the source said, adding that Hoffman was sipping on a milkshake by himself in front of the famous hotel.
Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment after police received a 911 call shortly after 11:30 a.m.
The New York Police Department has yet to release details about the tragic incident, however, numerous outlets are reporting that the actor was found with a needle in his arm.
NBC investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen tweeted, "4 empty bags, believed to be heroin, found near PSH. The branding on the bags was 'Ace of Spades' and 'Ace of Hearts.'"
Meanwhile the New York Times claims that "five empty plastic envelopes" were found in Hoffman's trash bin.
Hoffman struggled with addiction problems in the past and sought treatment for abusing heroin in May 2013.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Mimi O'Donnell, and their three children, daughters Tallulah and Willa and son Cooper.
