One Direction is officially the most popular band (and most popular recording artists) in the world!

Brit boy-banders Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne have been named Global Recording Artists of 2013 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

The honor is based on 1D's 2013 digital downloads, music streaming and physical CD sales. The Global Recording Artists title was newly created especially for the five singers due to their immense global success.

"One Direction have seen huge success with their third studio album Midnight Memories, which contained the hit singles 'Best Song Ever' and 'Story of My Life,'" read an IFPI announcement. "The album topped the U.S. Billboard Top 200 chart, making One Direction the first group in the charts history to debut at No. 1 with its first three albums. It also topped the charts in countries from Australia to the U.K."

Additionally, their "Best Song Ever" music video has over 200 million views on YouTube and the "Story of My Life" video ranked up more than 100 million views on the site.

Eminem came in second on IFPI's list while Justin Timberlake nabbed third and Bruno Mars came in fourth. Rounding out the list is Katy Perry, Pink, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Rihanna, Michael Bublé and Daft Punk.
