Selena Gomez gives credit where credit is due.

The brunette beauty, who graces the March cover of Seventeen's "Power" issue, praised Lorde when asked about which rising star she thought illustrates girl power during a video interview with the magazine—even if the "Royals" singer dissed Gomez in the past.

"There is one artist that I think is very powerful," Selena began to say, "She doesn't really like me, but that's all right. Her name's Lorde and she's really cool. I mean, I do think her message is very powerful. She's very young but she's got a lot to say and that's great, so more power to her."

Talk about taking the high road! Kudos, Selena.

When asked what girl power meant to the star, the singer replied, "I think girl power can mean so many different things, especially because we live in a time where it's so competitive with females—whether it's fashion or boys or friends and boys and boys and boys. It's really unfortunate. I feel like girl power is almost more powerful and more special than anything you're competing for."

So how can a girl find her inner power? "If you're able to look yourself in the mirror every day with the decisions that you make, that's where power starts," Gomez said.

"And sometimes you'll have moments where you feel weak, but they're supposed to encourage you. They're supposed to push you and motivate you. I feel like that's something that I always try to do is look at myself in the mirror and really what I've done and every day what decision I wanna make."
