Josh Lucas is headed back to bachelorhood.

The actor's wife, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, has filed for divorce after less than two years of marriage, a source tells E! News.

They quietly tied the knot in March 2012, about two months after Lucas made the surprise announcement on The Tonight Show that he was engaged—and that step came not long after the Sweet Home Alabama star and Jessica met cute at a dog park in New York.

But even before today's sad news, the couple's journey has had its major highs and lows.

Lucas and Henriquez welcomed son Noah Rev Mauer (Mauer being Lucas' real last name) in July 2012, and two months later Henriquez revealed that she had been battling cervical cancer since before she met Lucas (whom she shared her stage-one diagnosis with right after they met).

She opened up to Huffington Post in September 2012, revealing that she had been advised to have a hysterectomy when she became pregnant and decided to move forward with becoming a mom.

"If the cancer has progressed because I did nothing for a year to contain it or treat it, I don't feel any guilt, and I don't feel like it was a bad decision," Henriquez. "Every morning that I wake up with Josh and Noah, I'm even more assured that it was the right decision for me."

As for meeting Lucas, she called it "one of those weird, chance, classic New York meetings. "I don't believe in love at first sight at all, but lightening definitely struck. There was something there between both of us and we were both kind of blown away."

Lucas, whose latest film is Little Accidents with Elizabeth Banks, dished about being a new dad in December 2012, telling People, "Everyone says it's the greatest adventure you'll ever have and I'm amazed at how much I'm loving it."

This was the 42-year-old actor's first marriage. People was first to report the split.
