There was a royal baby born Friday, Jan. 17, but a former family member of potential princess Cressida Bonas passed away the same day.

Christopher Shaw, who was married to Cressy's mother Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon from 1996 to 2000, was found dead in Salisbury, England, when police responded to reports of "the sudden death of a man." Police told E! News in a statement that there appeared to be "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding the financier's death and that a coroner's report was being prepared.

Although Prince Harry's girlfriend, now 24, was only 11 when her mother and Mr. Shaw divorced, the late Brit was reportedly a "a massive part of her life."  As one source told The Sun, "Christopher was Cressida's father figure in her formative years."  (Mr. Shaw was Cressida's mom's fourth husband, and she has not remarried since their split 14 years ago.)

Per The Telegraph, Mr. Shaw had reportedly been suffering from long term health problems and had significantly cut back on his lavish spending in later years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and Cressida during this difficult time.
