UPDATE: A source from Uber tells E! News that "Joe is officially a driver on the uberX platform, which is our low-cost, eco-friendly vehicle type. He went through all the onboarding, and went through the system to be verified as a driver on the platform. He's gotten high ratings. He's a great driver." Meanwhile, another source close to Joe tells E! News, "It's for a viral video, kind of a sketch video, where he goes around and does little things. It will all become clear in about six weeks."

________

Now that he's no longer making music with his brothers, Joe Jonas obviously has a little extra time to kill.

Such was clearly the case on Thursday, Jan. 16, when the 24-year-old singer was caught picking up passengers in need of a ride.

"Today @millsbopp and I got in an @Uber and @joejonas was our driver," tweeted a young woman from Los Angeles.

She added, "We went to Pinkberry and then took a selfie," along with a photo of herself and a friend sitting next to Joe as he holds up a cup of frozen yogurt as evidence.

For the uninitiated, Uber is an increasingly popular app-based car service that allows riders to connect with drivers.

And to connect with celebrities as well, apparently.

Last October, the Jonas Brothers unanimously decided to call it quits less than three weeks after they canceled their fall tour due to "a deep rift within the band."

"It's over for now," Kevin Jonas told People at the time. "We're closing a chapter, for sure," Nick Jonas added.

Well, it looks like Joe may have just opened another.
