Heather Graham doesn't play the most likeable character in Lifetime's Flowers in the Attic movie remake.

In fact, on an episode of Chelsea Lately airing Thursday, Jan. 16, the 43-year-old actress watched a clip from her performance as Corrine, the antagonistic mother of the Dollanganger kids, and admitted, "I was so bitchy in that clip!"

Chelsea Handler was curious if "the little kids that you were hitting in the clip" were scared of Heather in between takes on set when the cameras weren't on. Her response? "Well, they liked me a lot at first," she said with a laugh, "and then about halfway through they started to be like kind of mad at me."

"Then, one little boy was like, 'You poison us,'" she recalled, "and I was like, 'Sorry! Like, didn't you read the script, you idiot?'"

As you can tell from Heather's giggle fit, she's joking. She did, however, take her role in the book (based on V.C. Andrews' controversial 1979 book) very seriously. "People love these books! I mean, people are obsessed," she said, explaining that her best friend "knew every line" and "inspired" her to give her all to the character.

But Heather didn't dive straight into the pages of V.C.'s work when she first got the role. "I watched the movie," she admitted, "and then I read the book!"

Flowers in the Attic premieres this Saturday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
