It's been almost two months since the world heard of Paul Walker's tragic death, and his fans and friends continue to mourn the fallen star.

However, Walker's pal and Fast & Furious costar Tyrese tells E! News that his friend wouldn't want people to be down about the fact that he's no longer here, even though the R&B singer admits that he found it difficult to move forward himself.

"I went out there and I found my smile again," Tyrese told us of his recent 35th birthday celebration in Dubai.

"I think a lot of us, without knowing, just with the hustle and bustle of life, trauma, drama and stuff—everybody knows what happened—to all of us mourning the loss of Paul at the end of the year, and I was just really sad for a long time. And I said, you know what? I'm gonna go to Dubai and I'm gonna go find my smile again and I found it."

But his birthday celebrations stirred up a bit of controversy from some fans who felt it was inappropriate considering what recently happened.

"It's a bittersweet situation. You'll have fans on the Internet that say, 'Well, you just lost your friend and yet you're out there celebrating,'" Tyrese tells E! News.

"But I think at the end of the day, my inspiration was I've never seen him cry, I've never seen him sad. I've never even seen him down. So at the end of the day, he wouldn't want anybody to be sad or miserable about the fact that he's not here because that's just who he was."
