TROV/AKM-GSIJustin Bieber may have escaped unscathed following a police raid on his Calabasas, Calif., home Tuesday morning, but that doesn't mean he's completely out of hot water.
During a press conference, L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told reporters that the singer "has not been exonerated, nor has he been arrested."
Whitmore confirmed that at approximately 8 a.m., "almost a dozen detectives" entered the Biebs' home after obtaining a search warrant.
Authorities were on the lookout for evidence relating to the egg-tossing incident that took place on Thursday, Jan. 9. According to video footage, eggs were thrown at Bieber's neighbor's walls.
"Mr. Bieber was present [during the search]" and was "cooperative," according to Whitmore.
He also confirmed that an arrest was made for a felony narcotics violation unrelated to the investigation. Bieber's pal Lil Za was photographed in handcuffs at the 19-year-old pop star's home.
When asked what drugs were found in connection with the arrest, Whitmore said, "I believe it was cocaine."
He added that Bieber "was not connected to the cocaine" that was found at his residence.
Whitmore also addressed why the singer is under investigation for a felony crime, after reporters questioned the seriousness of the crime considering it stemmed from eggs being thrown.
"Well it's a felony crime, I get that it was done with eggs which makes you feel that it's a lower level crime but a felony crime is a felony crime no matter how you commit it and this crime rose to a felony section."
So what was the damage to the neighbor's home?
"I'd have to get the exact amount but I think it was in the thousands of dollars and we only need $400 [for a search warrant]. The damage was done to the exterior…pretty much the entire front exterior," he explained. "The houses in that neighborhood are of a quality that any damage is going to be extensive. So they had some imported wood and brick and that was significantly damaged."
Whitmore also added that Bieber didn't have any counsel at the home at the time of the raid, "just members of his security detail."
