On Monday, Fox's boss Kevin Reilly revealed the new plan for Glee's remaining two seasons: we're officially leaving Lima behind and solely focusing on the New York side of things. Although many viewers are excited and invigorated by this new shift, many are wondering what this change could mean for some of our most beloved WMHS students—particularly the younger bunch of our musically inclined cast.
We were on a mission to bring you as much Glee-tastic news as possible so we caught up with a few of our favorite cast members at Fox's semi-annual all-star party on Monday night, to ask all the hard-hitting questions about the series' future. Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, and Becca Tobin spilled secrets on the fate of your favorite characters and we've got the all the exclusive updates!
Although some characters will have to stay behind in the hallowed halls of William McKinley High, some Glee seniors like Blaine Anderson will definitely be graduating into the NYC side. Warbler-loving actor Darren Criss said no matter what Blaine does in New York he knows at last one thing for sure: "Who knows what Blaine's going to do when he gets to New York, but I imagine he'll probably sing some songs, probably." Singing songs? On Glee?! No way! The actor smiled, "I don't know, it's just a hunch."
Criss spilled that he wishes that all the characters could find a way to transition over to the show's "exciting" new format. "For me that makes sense, for Blaine the character, for sure. For the other kids I hope they all go because I want to hang out with them. I would love to continue to work with all of my friends and colleagues," he said.
One star has already come up with a clever plan to get her character to make the move to the big city as Tobin is hoping that love will lead Kitty to follow her heart, and Artie, to the Big Apple. "I mean, I'm hoping [Kitty goes]. I'm hoping that Artie just can't go to college without her so you know fingers crossed," she said with a laugh. Whether or not Tobin will be able to continue her journey on Glee, the actress said she's thrilled that the series will be going through this "fresh little face-lift."
And we also caught up with everyone's favorite sweater vest-wearing senior and McHale confirmed that Artie will definitely be perusing his dream of film school in Brooklyn. After getting over the initial shock of the news ("None of us knew!"), the actor revealed that he's optimistic for the show's future.
"I'm going to New York so that's going to be fun, but it's also going to be weird to not be seeing everybody every day," he said. "But I think there's a lot of possibilities and a lot of potential there for us in New York to get up to no good."
But before the TV gods switch up the series, we first get to experience a massive Glee reunion for the series' monumental 100th episode. From originals like Amber Riley, Dianna Agron and Heather Morris to mega stars like Kristin Chenoweth, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chace Crawford…you name it—they're in it!
