Lindsey Vonn may no longer be headed to Sochi, but she does have an adorable new fury friend!

The 29-year-old skier, who announced last week she won't be competing at the 2014 winter Olympics due to a knee injury, recently adopted a new pet puppy named Leo.

Over the weekend, Vonn took Leo for a day at the beach near the home of her boyfriend Tiger Woods in Jupiter, Florida. The duo was snapped on the sand playing fetch with a neon Frisbee. Vonn sported bright sneakers, black short shorts and blue tank with sunglasses for her day at the beach.

Vonn posted a pic of Leo during his walk on the beach on her Facebook page, writing, "Morning walk on the beach with Leo. He seems very happy to be out of his cage! Can't wait to take him home to Vail and show him snow for the first time! #iloveleo #happydistraction."

Vonn announced that she adopted little Leo last week. "This definitely brightened my day-I adopted this 9 month old cutie from an animal shelter," she wrote. "He has a bad knee from being hit by a car when he was a puppy and no one wanted him...but I do!! I encourage anyone looking for an animal to adopt from a shelter and save a life! #bumkneebuddies."

One day prior, Vonn announced she won't be competing at the Sochi Olympics. "I am devastated to announce that I will not be able to compete in Sochi," she wrote. "I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level. I'm having surgery soon so that I can be ready for the World Championships at home in Vail next February."
