Kate Middleton's birthday is just a day away!

So will the beautiful royal celebrate the special occasion with Prince William and their little one, Prince George?

Well, not exactly…E! News has learned that the Duchess of Cambridge is most likely going to spending most of the day with her mother, Carole Middleton.

As of Wednesday, Carole was spotted grabbing some last-minute items for her daughter's big day in London. No word yet on whether or not she's staying in town overnight, but odds are high that she will be by Kate's side on her birthday.

A source tells E! News, "Carole came into London from Bucklebury for a shopping spree on the Kings Road…She spent about an hour and a half in Peter Jones where she was browsing and purchasing items from the Lancôme counter."

It's no coincidence that the Prince of Cambridge's grandmother was seen enjoying some retail therapy in her daughter's favorite shopping areas, perhaps she was keeping an eye out for what to grab Kate?

So where will Prince William be during the mother-daughter day?

It turns out that the duke is probably going to be at school for most of Thursday and therefore won't be able to spend much time with his wife.

The 31-year-old traveled by train on Tuesday to the University of Cambridge's campus to begin his 10-week program.

Prince William was seen sporting a navy suit and mahogany tie, and took the 9:44 a.m. train from Kings Cross station in Central London, a source revealed exclusively to E! News.

"He didn't travel first class, and blended in pretty well as a commuter," the source added. "He kept himself to himself and was just reading."

After his first day, an eyewitness spotted William returning to London on a 5 p.m. train.

Sounds like he'll be home in time for a dinner celebration!
