A High School Science Teacher Lost 37 Pounds Eating Only McDonald's

McDonald's Diet

Welcome to our 2014 diet.

John Cisna, a science teacher at Colo-Nesco High School in Iowa, ate nothing but McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 90 days and lost 37 pounds. Why bother reading any more?! Let's all go to McDonald's now! It's good for you!

Kinda.

KCCI News reports that Cisna's experiment required him to follow a strict 2,000 calories per day diet and remain as close as possible to the recommended dietary allowances for carbs, calories, etc. Three students picked out his daily meals using Mickey D's online nutritional info.

"That's what's so amazing about this experiment. I can eat any food at McDonald's that I want," John concludes. "As long I'm smart about the rest of the day and what I balance it out with."

"A typical breakfast would be two Egg White Delights, a bowl of their Maple Oatmeal and a 1 percent milk," Cisna recalls. He would then opt for a salad for lunch and a value meal pick for dinner.

"This isn't something to say, 'Oh, he only went to McDonald's and ate salads,'" he continued. "I had Big Macs. I had the Quarter Pounders With Cheese. I had sundaes. I had ice cream cones."

There is a tiny, small, itty-bitty (important, big, crucial) catch though: Mr. Cisna, who admits he didn't exercise before the experiment, began walking 45 minutes per day. His cholesterol also dropped from 249 to 170 during the experiment.

"It's our choices that make us fat. Not McDonald's," Cisna says. Super Size Me this is not.

"I'm like, 'Wow that was a lot of a difference,'" one of the students involved exclaimed. And now that this science experiment is over, maybe we should focus on speaking English good.
