Gisele Bundchen, Jimmy Fallon

NBC

Ah, the power of music.

While appearing on NBC's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Jan. 6, Gisele Bündchen recalled how she didn't speak English when she first came to the United States at 16 to pursue a modeling career back in the '90s.

"How did you learn?" Fallon inquired. "Did you do Rosetta Stone?"

"My wonderful cassette tapes, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey, saved my life," the Brazilian beauty revealed.

She added, "They were great teachers, so I have to thank them one day if I ever meet them in person. They were very inspiring."

When asked if her two kids with husband Tom Brady speak her native Portuguese, Bündchen replied, "Well, my daughter [Vivian] is just 1, but Benjamin is 4 and I only speak to him in Portuguese. Sometimes he'll try to speak in English and I'm like, 'I don't understand, so you'll have to speak in Portuguese. I don't understand English.'"

As for Brady, the supermodel noted he only speaks two languages, and Portuguese isn't one of them.

"Football and English," she said.
