Prince William played it safe for his first-day-of-school outfit, keeping it simple yet polished in a navy suit and mahogany tie.

Kate Middleton's hubby even took the train Tuesday, Jan. 7, to the University of Cambridge, where he will be studying agricultural management in a 10-week-program.

One would think that William's fellow scholars would be excited to have a royal in their midst, but some students are not happy the University of St. Andrews alum was admitted to Cambridge. The school's newspaper The Tab pointed out that 31-year-old William's marks from his A-level studies at Eton College (the boarding school he attended for his pre-university studies) are not up to par with the university's standards.

"The Tab must point out that normally students need A*AA at A-level to gain entry to Cambridge University, whilst the Prince only achieved a mediocre ABC," writer Will Heilpern stated. "Conveniently though for Will, he is the registered benefactor of the department he will be studying at."

One recent Cambridge grad told The Guardian she was "ashamed" by the prince's admission, explaining that William's admission to the school is "an insult to every student whose A-levels and degree are the same or better than his, and who didn't get a free pass to Cambridge in spite of them."

Oh, goodness. Well, being a royal has some advantages not necessarily extended to commoners. But in Will's defense, there aren't too many perspective applicants who can list "future king of the United Kingdom" as an extracurricular activity.

Haters gon' hate. Study hard, babykins!
