That was exactly the case when Miley Cyrus stepped out in Los Angeles with her "We Can't Stop" director and friend Diane Marteloff on Thursday night.
The two gal pals stopped by Hollywood hot spot Warwick late in the evening for some quality girls' time.
"Miley arrived with one of her friends and they sat in the downstairs living room near one of the fireplaces," a source tells E! News.
"She danced a lot! She danced to her own song "23" and kept taking selfies. It was amazing!"
And according to our insider, fellow clubgoers were respectful of the twerking songstress and made sure not to cramp her style.
"Everyone knew who she was and kept staring at her, but no one bothered her which was really nice. She got to have a good time with her friend," the eyewitness said.
"She was really casual and just had a great time."
Miley even tweeted after the evening outing, "Best night ever @DianeMarteloff"
The ladies' fairly tame outing comes on the heels of the "Wrecking Ball" singer spotted out and about with Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz.
The two were seen getting quite cozy at a nightclub in Las Vegas last month and weren't hiding their PDA.
"They were making out and didn't seem to care who was watching," a source says. "It wasn't a secret that they were together."
Hmm…only time will tell what unfolds between this good-looking duo!
