Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicBen Affleck won't be the only one packing on muscle for the Man of Steel sequel.
In her first interview since being cast as Wonder Woman in the now superhero-laden film, Gal Gadot said that she has just started "the physical preparations" for the role—and they sound intense!
"A very serious training regimen—Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, Jujutsu, Brazilian...1,000-and-1 things. I'll gain body mass," the Israeli actress told the Hebrew-language entertainment show Good Evening With Gai Pines, per a translation posted on Batman News.
Gadot, who's best known for playing Gisele in the Fast & Furious movies, doesn't seem to be slouch in the toughness department, but apparently fans were wondering whether she might be too slight to step into Wonder Woman's red boots, which have failed to find a foothold since Lynda Carter played the DC Comics hero in the 1970s.
The 28-year-old model-actress also served two years in the Israeli army, a mandatory term of service for men and women born there—and that's way more military service than most actors who've played superheroes can attest to!
"I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world," Gadot smiled. "Breasts...anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go 'by the book'...it'd be problematic."
Also on the show, Gadot recalled what happened she got the good news.
She was on her way from Israel to New York when her agent informed her that the role of Wonder Woman was hers—but it was a big secret and she couldn't tell anybody!
"I'm saying to her 'Are you serious?!' and we both scream!" Gadot said. "Now, it's a plane from Israel to New York and I can't make loud noise, and so I lean on a window, bending down to my legs, and just try to understand. Long story short, I was totally alone in New York, I got to a hotel at 12 p.m., I needed to wake up in the morning for [a shoot]. I remember lying in the darkness by myself, staring at the ceiling, and I was telling myself, 'It's not real!'
"It shouldn't be like that, I'm supposed to be like, 'Where's the champagne?'"
At least this Wonder Woman is almost certainly going to fly. Asked recently about being all dressed up with nowhere to go when NBC opted not to pick up the pilot for a TV reboot, Adrianne Palicki told IGN that merely being cast was still "one of the coolest things ever."
The as-yet untitled Man of Steel sequel, starring Gadot as Wonder Woman, Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill once again as Superman, is due in theaters July 17, 2015.
