Jeremy Renner may play a badass on the big screen, but now that he's a father he's become a bit of a softie. While making the promotional rounds for American Hustle, the 42-year-old star finally opened up about life with his 9-month-old daughter, Ava Berlin.

Renner and Sonni Pacheco welcomed a baby girl in March, two months after it was revealed that the actor was set to become a father. Speaking to California newspaper The Modesto Bee on Dec. 9, the two-time Oscar nominee said it will be a "long, long time" before his daughter is allowed to see "any movies I do."

No matter. As Renner explained, family films aren't up his alley. "I don't have a very Disney spirit, anyway," he joked. (Well, except for his superhero movies for Marvel, which is part of Disney.)

All kidding aside, Renner revealed that his priorities are indeed changing. Fatherhood, he explained, "is not going to change what I do. It changes how much I do. I am certainly very cognitive now of where things shoot; I don't want to be away from my family like I was for the past several years on the franchise run."

Renner—who's starred in 2011's Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, 2012's The Avengers and 2013's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters—certainly deserves a break. And yet, he'll kick off 2014 by reprising his role as Hawkeye in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The actor also has more Bourne and Mission: Impossible movies in the works.

"It's exciting and exhilarating and daunting," Renner said of his busy schedule. "I'm very excited for the idea of these things actually happening. I know they are happening at some point. But I don't think I'll really believe it until I'm actually on the set doing it. You know, I've been in this business for so long, there are lots of ways things can go. Those are all months and months ahead for me."

For now, though, Renner is focused on spending time with his daughter. "The holidays are all about family, and there's nothing better than Christmas with kids," he said.

During a Friday, Dec. 20, appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael, Renner revealed that his firstborn is "amazing" and said she's a complete daddy's girl. We certainly see why!
