Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey may be competing against each other for a SAG Award but they're not going to let something like that get in the way of their friendship.

"We've spoken," Roberts told me last night at the L.A. premiere of August: Osage County. " We're good. We're fine.

"We're going to get through this just fine," she added with a big laugh. "Honestly, not to speak for her—Oprah Winfrey, she' so fabulous—but we're both just thrilled. This is such a beautiful moment."

Roberts, who stunned last night in a Givenchy tuxedo style ensemble, is up for the SAG Award for Supporting Female Actor for her work in Osage County as one of three sisters  (Julianne Nicholson and Juliette Lewis play the other two) who reunite when they travel back home to Oklahoma to be with their pill-popping cancer-stricken mother (Meryl Streep) after their father dies.

Winfrey is nominated for her turn in Lee Daniels' The Butler as the wife of a black White House butler who served several presidents over his career.

"For someone who was trying not to embarrass myself, it is amazing," Winfrey exclusively told me last week just hours after the SAG nominations were announced. "The best part is it is a jury of your peers. It's people who do this for a living—don't make me cry now!—It's people who do this for a living saying, ‘We're going to give you a vote. We think what you did deserves this.'"

Rounding out the category are Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle, Lupita Nyong'o for 12 Years a Slave and Nebraska's June Squibb.

Abigail Breslin, who plays Roberts' rebellious daughter in Osage County, says working with the all-star ensemble was "terrifying." Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Margo Martindale and Chris Cooper are among the other costars.

"I'm not going to lie, it was terrifying," Breslin said. "But they were all very welcoming and really really sweet to me. I felt really, really lucky."
