Rumors that the newly single star was dating the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder popped up seemingly just minutes after she filed for divorce from husband Lamar Odom on Friday, with photographs of the two working out that day at the same gym only serving to send the speculation into overdrive.
Kemp had also posted a pic on Instagram of the Christmas tree at Kris Jenner's house, writing, "Best time of the year!! It's gonna b a Cali Christmas this year."
But sure enough, there was a lot of fuss over nothing.
Sources tell E! News that there is no truth to the romance rumors and that Khloé, who just took steps to end her four-year marriage, is most certainly not dating anybody at this time.
"She's hurt. She is in absolutely no frame of mind for dating right now," says one source close to Khloé.
A source close to Kemp, who dated Rihanna a few years ago, also insists that the reports are not true, that the E! star and the all-star athlete are friends and neighbors and that the idea of anything more is a media construct.
Both Khloé, whose only social media action over the weekend was to wish nephew Mason a happy birthday, and Kemp have kept quiet on the matter themselves.
Khloé filed divorce papers on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and asking to legally drop Odom from her last name.
A source told E! News last week that Odom was "deeply saddened" by Khloé's decision, but also not surprised.
"He knew it was coming and it was only a matter of time," the insider said. "He felt like he gave his all to try and save the marriage, but ultimately he wasn't able to."
It was the first marriage for both of them. Lamar has two kids from a previous relationship.
"There will always be a place in his heart for Khloé," the source said. "He will always love her and her family. She has decided and there is nothing more he can do. He has to accept that."
