Hey, whatever gets you through till second breakfast.

Martin Freeman flashed that British wit of his at the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, telling The Showbiz 411 that the Lord of the Ring prequels being directed by Peter Jackson were "mainly fueled by cocaine."

"Mainly—not only—but mainly fueled by cocaine because not all of it was, obviously," the actor clarified, his serious demeanor only making the moment funnier. "The rest of it was speedballs, but a lot of it was just coke."

So while the time he spent in New Zealand was obviously a party, are he and Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the Necromancer and the voice of Smaug in this film, dipping into a seven-percent solution on the set of Sherlock, too?

Informed that Cumberbatch is said to be a "good drunk," Freeman pleaded ignorance.

"Is he? I've not really seen Ben drunk particularly," he replied. "We didn't really cross over on this at all. We don't really drink so much during Sherlock because there's so many lines to learn."

And as if he didn't end up being funny enough during the interview, Freeman actually kicked it off with the biggest joke of all: Asked what the biggest challenge was that he had to overcome to play Bilbo Baggins, he said, "My lack of any talent."

"I had to overcome that. But I got it with sleeping with the right people. It's always the way forward, I find. If you've got it where it counts..." he continued, whistling for emphasis.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters Dec. 13, and then we get to see Freeman and Cumberbatch's big brains in action when the third season of Sherlock premieres on PBS' Masterpiece Jan. 19.
