GEVA/AKM-GSIPaul Walker's remains will be laid to rest this weekend, but there are still questions to be answered about what caused the fatal Nov. 30 car crash that took his and Roger Rodas' lives.
But, it could take up to 90 days for authorities to determine what caused the Porsche Carrera GT to strike a light pole, two trees and a speed limit sign. Because, as Detective Jeff Maag told the Hollywood Reporter on Dec. 12, any reports of the sports car's speed are completely speculative at this point.
Detective Maag said more work needs to be done before many facts about the accident are known. Before these results are known, he's only comfortable confirming the vehicle was traveling at least 45 miles per hour prior to the fiery accident.
A coroner's report released earlier this month did confirm that both Walker and Rodas died of the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries. The deaths were ruled to be accidental.
A source tells E! News that a private service to be attended only by Walker's family will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills this weekend. Another private gathering, also taking place this weekend, is being held for family and friends at an as-yet undisclosed location. The larger gathering will still be invitation-only and no media or press will be allowed in.
