Sofía Vergara is definitely more than just a pretty drop-dead gorgeous face. In fact, the Modern Family star insists there's actualy a pretty business-savvy brain behind that beautiful bod of hers.
"I think that the concept of being sexy and smart is difficult for many to grasp," the 41-year-old actress tells Glam Belleza Latina in its latest issue. "Most people are more comfortable with the notion of 'sexy bimbo.' And I have to admit that I've capitalized on that to negotiate a couple of times, when the 'smart ones' think I have no idea what I can deliver, and I end up costing them more."
Which, of course, helps to explain how she became the top-earning actress on TV.
According to Forbes, the Colombian bombshell made nearly $30 million last year alone. Vergara's earnings, due obviously in part to her sizeable Modern Family paycheck, were also fueled largely by her lucrative endorsement deals, which include Kmart, Diet Pepsi and CoverGirl.
"I'm not ashamed to say I love making money," she admits. "I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future. I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect. It is fun to shock people with my business ideas. Most people just see me as [my Modern Family character] Gloria."
What's more, Vergara, who became a mom when she had son Manolo at 19, says parenthood was one of her biggest motivators to succeed.
"Looking back now, I realize that although it was tough, it made me focus on working hard and not letting this business take the best of me," she explains. "Because I had a child to support, I was always motivated."
