Spoiler Alert: Do not continue reading if you've yet to watch Sons of Anarchy's season six finale, which aired Tuesday, Dec. 10. If you complain about spoilers in the comments, you are the opposite of Batman!

Woah.

That's all we can manage to say after watching Sons of Anarchy's season six finale on Tuesday night. Well, that and curse you, Kurt Sutter, you evil genius of a showrunner you.

The FX gritty drama's two-hour finale hit us with a major punch to our emotional gut in the closing act, as Gemma (Katey Sagal) killed her daughter-in-law Tara (Maggie Siff) in a drunken rage.

Yes, you read  that right: Jax's (Charlie Hunnam) wife (and the mother of his son Thomas) is dead.

So how did it go down?

Well, Gemma thinks Tara, who made a run for it (becoming a fugitive in the process) in the last episode, ratted on Jax and the club, so she tried to drown her in the kitchen sink. When that fails, she stabbed her (multiple times, mind you) with a meat carving fork. Seriously!

The worst part of it all was Jax and Tara had managed to come together prior to her death, as SAMCRO's leader found his wife and instead of going off in a rage, he showed compassion. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm not going to hurt them," he told her. "You don't have to run, not anymore. Just be a good mother. Save our boys." All the tears!

And fans didn't have to wait long to see Jax's reaction to his wife's death as the episode ended with him returning home to find Tara's body on the floor. As he is holding Tara in his arms and sobbing, D.A. Patterson (whom Jax had made a deal to take the fall for the pilot's school shooting to exonorate Tara for Pamela's murder) walked in on the horrifying scene. Dun-dun-dun!

But Tara wasn't the only character who didn't make it out of the finale alive as Juice (Theo Rossi) killed Sheriff Eli (Rockmond Dunbar) after they walked in on Gemma post-murder. " "It had to be done," Gemma said before the guys informed her that Tara didn't betray Jax and SAMCRO. And then Juice shoots Eli before getting rid of anything that could tie Gemma to Tara's murder.

P.S. Was anyone else brought to tears when Jax visited Opie's (Ryan Hurst) grave and admitted he "lost" his "center" after his BFF died. Miss you so hard, Opie!

What did you think of SOA's season six finale? Will you miss Tara? Was her death the show's most shocking ever? Sound off in the comments!
