The 44-year-old rapper, who is currently in the midst of his Magna Carta World Tour, took the stage on Monday, Dec. 9 at the Los Angeles' Staples Center, where he closed off his show by dedicating his final song to the 95-year-old South African leader, who tragically passed away last week.
"We want to dedicate this song to Nelson Mandela. A great man, spent 27 years in prison, came out to be president. All dreams are possible," the king of hip-hop told the audience. "Tonight I'm living my dream in front of y'all. So anyone out there who got a dream, y'all chase that motherf--ker down as hard as you can."
Hov then launched into a performance of his hit "Young Forever" as fans all held their cellphones in the air and sang along to the tribute tune.
According to a concertgoer, fans were "loving" the superstar's commemorative moment as he honored the former South African president, who died on Thursday, Dec. 5 after failing in health for some time.
Jay certainly isn't the first celeb to pay tribute to Mandela. A number of stars, including the rapper's wife, Beyoncé, took to social media last week to honor the revered South African statesman after his sudden death.
"Thank you for all you have sacrificed to improve the lives of other human beings. Rest in peace.❤️," she captioned a touching photo of the pair.
Tens of thousands of people also packed into Johannesburg's FNB Stadium today to honor and celebrate the life of famous peacemaker.
Charlize Theron, a native South African, Bono, a friend and fellow activist, and Naomi Campbell were among the celebs in attendance as well as President Barack Obama, who praised the "people of South Africa...for sharing Nelson Mandela with us."
