The Glee star exclusively tells me that she'll be joining Carson Daly in Times Square for his annual New Year's countdown show!
"I'll be in the mix of it," Lynch told me at the Trevor Project's TrevorLive benefit, where she was honored with this year's Hero Award. "I'm going to be freezing my butt off like everybody else."
She's never been in Times Square for New Year's. "They say it's a real experience so I'm looking forward to doing it," Lynch said.
She also joked that the competition better watch out! "I'm going to be calling Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper over all the time," Lynch said of CNN's New Year's cohosts. "We're going to have a friendly war going on."
Lynch hosted VH1's DoSomething Awards in 2010. A few months later, she hosted the Emmy Awards.
In May, Lynch made her Broadway debut playing Miss Hannigan in a revival of Annie.
This will mark the tenth year of New Year's Eve with Carson Daly. The Last Call talk show host launched the special after joining NBC from MTV. (E! Online and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
Lynch was honored at TrevorLive by Glee cocreator Ryan Murphy and her Best In Show costar Jennifer Coolidge. The cast of Glee serenaded her with "Smile."
The Trevor Project is a nationwide helpline for LGBT youth.
"I'm really humbled by this," Lynch said. "This is a big deal. I love what these people have been doing for 15 years and I'm in awe of the fact that it's all volunteers and of all the kids who pick up the phone who have the guts to do that. It's a night about love and commitment. I'm so honored to be a part of it."
