Something we can tell you after years of working with Community star (and E!'s The Soup host) Joel McHale: The guy doesn't sugar coat. He tells it like it is.

So when the funnyman says that he is "More excited about Community now than ever, in my whole life," well, our heads pretty much explode in anticipation of Community's fifth season, premiering Jan. 3 on NBC.

Especially when we know that the show's creator/mastermind Dan Harmon is back (after a fourth season in which he was very much missed) and Ken Jeong (Chang) himself reveals this megabomb for fans: "We've already shot maybe my favorite moment ever of Chang of the whole series."

Boom. See. Exploded.

Now, on the off chance you fans want to see new footage of season five, including the hilarious twist of what Chang is up to, we have...

Awesome video alert! Above you'll find an exclusive first look at Community's new season, including a few reveals of what the gang is doing, plus, behind-the-scenes footage of the cast.

With Harmon back on board, and the show's somewhat unexpected season-five pickup, Community is experiencing something of a rebirth—trying to reel in a wider audience, including fans who gave up in season four, or viewers who never checked it out in the first place.

As Yvette Nicole Brown puts it, "The goal is for this to be a repilot. If you've never seen the show before, you could jump in at this season five, episode one."

Though McHale's character Jeff Winger graduated at the end of season four, he will be back in season one for something of a reunion (thanks to a law case he's working on), and [Spoiler Alert] he'll be on the Greendale payroll by episode two, in a new position at the college.

Oh, and we'd tell you about how Mchale insists "You will see that these are some of the finest scripts we have ever done, some of the best writing." But it's just too much Community hope for us to handle.
