Season four, time for some serious shirtlessness!

That's what host Nick Lachey jokes that viewers can expect from the new season of The Sing-Off, NBC's a cappella singing competition, which returned last night to pretty solid ratings. The season four premiere brought in 6 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demo, which is an improvement from its season three premiere and finale. (Of course, they may want to send a gift basket to The Voice for a great lead-in!)

We chatted with Lachey, Ben Folds, Jewel and Shawn Stockman backstage after The Voice's performance show on Monday night, where they teased the new season and showed off their silly chemistry together!

"I'm so happy to be back and so grateful to NBC for bringing the show back," Lachey told E! News of The Sing Off returning for a fourth season, adding that they've "tried to take it up a notch and bring our best efforts this season."

And that included bringing a new judge: Jewel!  "I feel really qualified to be on the show because I'm a woman and I naturally judge," the singer-songwriter joked.

She later proved her natural ability to judge when she fixed her fellow judge Ben Folds' shirt, showing off his chest hair in the process, saying, "Look forward to that!"

Lachey added, "The winter wool is out, folks! By episode four we're all shirtless. That's how we upped the ante on The Sing Off this season!"
