Friday Night Lights Movie Definitely Not Happening, Says Executive Producer Peter Berg

Sorry, Friday Night Lights fans—it doesn't look like the beloved TV show will be coming to the big screen after all. Though rumors of a movie reunion have circulated for years—and many cast members have expressed interest in reprising their roles—executive producer Peter Berg says it's a no-go.

"There's not gonna be a movie. We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn't," he tells Collider. "I've come to believe it's probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it's gonna happen."

Based on the 2004 film of the same name, the TV series ran for five seasons (two on NBC and three on DirecTV) and starred Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, Minka Kelly, Zach Gilford, Michael B. Jordan, Aimee Teegarden, Taylor Kitsch, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Porter, Madison Burge, Jurnee Smollett, Brad Leland and dozens of others.

Speaking to Vulture last week, Kitsch—who played fullback Tim Riggins—said he'd "just say no" to a movie reunion. "No, period. I'm not doing it. I'm never gonna be in that movie. There was already a movie! And the show ended f--kin' spot-on. We're good."

Britton, meanwhile, told E! News over the summer that she'd be game for another chance to play Tami Taylor—even if her TV husband (Chandler) feels otherwise. "I feel like he and I are sort of on different sides of the fence with the movie idea," the Nashville star said. "We'll see."

Sorry, Britton—it looks like Kitsch and Chandler are getting their wish.
