Vin Diesel Visits Paul Walker's Mom, Talks About Breaking Down and Losing His "Other Half"

"I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs," he wrote on Facebook

It's clear that Paul Walker's sudden death has dramatically affected many, many people, from his family to friends to colleagues to fans. And one person who was especially close to the actor and has been open about the tragic loss, is his Fast & Furious costar Vin Diesel.

The actor took to Facebook today to share with fans that he paid a visit to Walker's mom after the news of what happened broke and shared a part of their conversation that just makes us want to cry.

"When I heard, I immediately flew back to California, and went directly from the plane to his mother's house...," Diesel wrote. "I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs."

He continued, "His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry... I said sorry? You're the mother who lost a son?... She said yes, but you lost your other half..."

"To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die," the actor quoted Thomas Campbell on his Facebook page in speaking out for the first time about the death of his longtime friend.

"Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now... and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us... on me...I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were... on and off screen."

Diesel also paid tribute to the late actor on Monday, Dec. 2. After attending a private memorial service in Santa Clarita, Calif., the movie star made an impromptu speech in Valencia using a sheriff's car's microphone.

Calling Walker his "brother," the 46-year-old action star thanked attendees for their support in light of the actor's Nov. 30 passing. "At this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul. It's going to stay with me forever," Diesel said. "I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."

Meanwhile, car racer Danica Patrick spoke out about Walker's crash. "It's just shocking, really sad," she told Extra. "It almost feels a little bit close to home because he was part owner of a race team, and he was with a driver. Obviously, all those Fast and Furious movies were about racing and driving fast."
