Watch: Jessica Simpson's Message to Moms

Jessica Simpson's had huge successes in the fashion world, yes, but she still seems down to earth and relatable enough to hang out with all the other moms.

That's probably because she is, in fact, facing all the same things every new parent encounters!  At the 27th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards on Dec. 3, the mother of two told E! News how, like most moms out there, she "didn't know everything that was going to go into it' before having a child!

"I now look at all moms as superheroes," says Jess, the proud mother of 18-month-old daughter Maxwell and 5-month-old son Ace. "We are incredible, powerful women."

But Jessica, 33, hasn't always been as kind to herself. In a guest post she wrote for Parents.com, she admitted she was extremely hard on herself for the weight she gained during her pregnancies. But having a little girl of her own made her realize she didn't want her to see mom beating herself up "for things like food choices or numbers on a scale."

"I want to teach [Maxwell] to value herself, listen to herself and tune out the world," Jess wrote. "I want her to know her value, rather than spending her energy fighting negative voices from within."

Jessica also pointed out that she—and all mamas out there!—should try not to be so hard on themselves. "I really wanted to write out to women and let them know that I'm going through a lot of the same things," she tells E! News. "There's a lot of things that you can get caught up in, especially in this industry, and that was a message from my heart that I needed to share."

Props to Jessica and all the supermoms out there!
