Today Kate Middleton attended a glitzy reception at the Buckingham Palace with husband Prince William. But it wasn't her custom lace white Alexander McQueen gown that had us remembering her famous nuptials (though we will definitely be doing a side-by-side comparison of the dresses later), it was the dazzling diamond tiara perched atop her head.
Yes, despite being the Duchess of Cambridge for over two years, this is the first time Kate has worn a crown since her London wedding. And just like on her big day back in 2011, Kate opted for a tiara fit for a queen. OK, well actually a princess this time, but still. This crown once belonged to Princess Margaret and appears to be slightly larger than the one she wore with her veil.
Adding to her sparkle, Prince George's mum wore a pair of diamond drop earrings, which were quite visible thanks to her half-up, half-down hairstyle—a look that mirrored the 'do she had for her I-dos.
Of course, every princess needs a chariot right? Which is probably why the royal duo pulled up to the event in a Bentley (and accompanied by two cars ferrying their security detail and six police bikes, or outriders, that is).
"It's one of the most glamorous events of the year," an eyewitness told E! News.
"Kate was smiling as usual, looking good. She was well-composed. She looked really good, and really comfortable," the source added. "William was right next to her ([in the car when they arrived]" and was a bit "camera shy."
There's still a lot more news to come from tonight's event, but we're just going to call this now: Kate is the belle of the ball.
