Angelina Jolie is back to calling "action."

Just days after she was in Los Angeles with husband Brad Pitt and son Maddox to accept the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at an early Oscars ceremony, the 38-year-old star returned to directing her upcoming film Unbroken in Sydney, Australia, on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Wearing a long-sleeved black dress and a pair of shades, Jolie was seen smiling in between takes as she kept the production moving along.

Unbroken tells the true story of former Olympian and real-life World War II hero Louis Zamperini who, as an Air Force pilot, crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1943 and was subsequently taken captive by Japanese soldiers, who held him in a prison camp for the rest of the war.

Jack O'Connell, best known for his role on the British hit show Skins, stars as Zamperini.

It was announced in September that Garrett Hedlund had signed on to portray Commander John Fitzgerald, the leader of the prisoners in the camp where Zamperini was held.

Last month, a photo was released showing Jolie posing with the real-life Zamperini, now 96 years old.

The Oscar winner and Zamperini reportedly met a year ago when she signed on to direct the film.

Unbroken is slated to be released in December 2014.
