Secret weddings are all the rage this year. British pop sensation Cher Lloyd has revealed via Instagram that she married hairdresser Craig Monk on Monday, Nov. 18. "Cher and Craig are married but all other details are private," a rep for the former X Factor U.K. contestant tells E! News.
Lloyd shared a picture from their nuptials with fans. The bride looked beautiful wearing a strapless wedding gown and a simple necklace. She carried a bouquet of white roses and wore a veil. "Thank you for all your lovely messages!!" the singer tweeted on Wednesday, Nov. 20. "I'm so happy!!!"
Cheryl Cole congratulated her former X Factor U.K. protégé via Twitter. "Wow!! Heard your good news. Congratulations @CherLloyd I hope you have many more happy years and memories to come," the Girls Aloud singer wrote.
Monk 23, and Lloyd, 20, began dating in 2011 after the former fitted the latter's hair extensions at Mayfair's Four salon. The couple publicly announced their engagement in January 2012, and three months later, the "Want U Back" singer told The Daily Mirror she was eager to walk down the aisle.
"I'm engaged and want to get married as soon as possible. I can't wait," Lloyd said. "I love Craig and he makes me happy. I know I am going to spend the rest of my life with him."
Lloyd was quick to dismiss people who criticized her for getting engaged at such a young age. "People are negative no matter what you do. People are always going to say, 'She's too young!' I'm from a Gypsy background! I'm meant to be married by now," she said. "But I'm happy, really happy. I love him to pieces, more than anything in the world, but I don't want people to take that away from me."
"I know I've got my whole life ahead of me," she added, "but why not get hitched now?"
