We're not going to sugarcoat it, so we'll let Dwight Schrute from The Office remind you guys about the current status of Detective Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson) from Person of Interest as of Tuesday night:

"Now she is dead. As dead as every dead animal that has ever died."

After being shot by Simmons (Robert John Burke), Carter died in Reese's (Jim Caviezel) arms. Heartbreaking stuff, right? Well in case you want to feel more pain for these TV characters, CBS released a behind-the-scenes video of the shocking scene, plus interviews with Henson and Caviezel about Carter's final moments.

"She had a way about her that put me at ease and made me smile," Caviezel says while footage of the duo hugging after the death scene plays out. Ugh, twist the knife why don't you?! But at least Henson knows why she her character had to go.

"Sometimes in TV you get too comfortable. You got to shake things up," she reasons. "And I think that's the beauty of this show. No one's safe. Sometimes you got to shake it up, and I'm a ballsy girl so I was down for it."

What we are not down for is watching Henson say goodbye to the crew after she wraps her scene. When she chokes up, you'll choke up. Guaranteed. So what's next for the show?

"In the wake of Carter's death, I just hope that the rest of the characters continue to carry on her legacy, continue to fight for justice for all, by any means necessary."

After Carter's shocking death, Henson thanked fans for their support on Twitter, writing, "WOW! Your love for Carter is overwhelming.I miss her too."

She later posted a photo of herself on the show, with the caption: "#RIPCARTER #GoneButNEVERforgotten #GuardianAngel Carter will forever love you."
