To Lily Allen, calling someone a bitch is nothing short of a sincere compliment.

Really.

The singer used the term as she gushed about her favorite female artists in an interview with The Guardian and explained why she's always going against the grain.

"Dolly Parton is a bitch. Adele's a bitch. Angela Merkel is a bitch…Rihanna's an inspiring bitch, my mum, Miley [Cyrus] is a bitch, rising. She's my hero," she told the publication.

But Allen made one other specific clarification, "Kate Middleton is not a bitch."

The mother of two explained that she's never been one to stay quiet, despite being told otherwise by music executives early on in her career.

"I've always been called ‘mouthy,'" she admitted. "When, in fact, I'm just talking. In the music industry, women have always been controlled by male execs, told to do the Kate Moss thing. Keep your mouth shut, or people will laugh at you. They've been talking about us like this for years, basically."

It is interesting to note that Allen and Moss were quite close a few years back but had a public falling out in 2011.

Allen also criticized pop music's message these days, saying, "Nobody says anything real today. Most of these girls have their songs written by other people."

She added, "It annoys me, because ‘eh oh eh oh ahh' is not a chorus—that's not a point where I feel we're connecting, you know? I need a narrative."

The singer's music video for her latest single, "Hard Out Here," has already received tons of attention (both good and bad).

In the clip, Allen is shown getting liposuction, dancing with twerkers and making fun of the double standards women face in pop culture.
